2017 SWNC Pre-Conference Speaker Title:

“Driving Dairy Profitability: Economics of Decision Making”

Kevin Dhuyvetter is a Technical Consultant for Elanco Animal Health’s U.S. Dairy Business Unit with responsibility for providing technical support to U.S. dairy producers and key influencers on economic-related issues in the industry.  His primary focus is to analyze factors impacting dairy profitability, developing decision tools, and analyze herd health and economic data.


Dhuyvetter started with Elanco in June of 2014.  Prior to his current position, he spent approximately 27 years with Kansas State University working in various positions as an Extension specialist and research economist.  As a professor in the Department of Agricultural Economics at Kansas State University, Dhuyvetter’s specialty was farm management and marketing.  Specifically, he focused much of his attention on leasing and buying land, machinery costs, crop and livestock production economics, marketing, and technology adoption. In addition to authoring numerous publications, Kevin developed many decision tools for evaluating the economics of production and marketing issues and was a primary contributor to the website.


Dhuyvetter grew up on a diversified crop and livestock farm in northwest North Dakota and holds B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees in agricultural economics from North Dakota State University, Iowa State University, and Kansas State University, respectively.  He resides in Manhattan, KS, with his wife, Elaine, and they have three grown children, Dustin, Ethan, and Katie.
